DJ Matthew Brewer Behind the Decks: Crafting Unforgettable Moments at Oceanview Nahant

Hey everyone, Matthew Brewer here, your go-to DJ for making memories on the dance floor!

This past Saturday, I had the pleasure of spinning at the stunning Oceanview Nahant, a truly picturesque venue where the ocean itself provides the perfect backdrop for a wedding. It was a beautiful day wedding, and venues like this often keep us on our toes with multiple events. This particular day was a "hat trick" – a full lineup including the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception, all perfectly orchestrated to create an unforgettable experience for the happy couple.

The Early Bird Gets the Perfect Setup

As always, arriving early is key. I arrived at Oceanview Nahant a good three hours ahead of time, ensuring that every piece of equipment was meticulously placed and tested. This venue has some incredible features, including a gorgeous outdoor ceremony space right by the water, and a seamless transition to the indoor reception area.

My Rig: The Heartbeat of Your Celebration

Let's talk tech! For a seamless sound experience, my setup included:

  • Alto TS412 Monitor: Crucial for crisp, clear sound, ensuring I can hear everything perfectly to keep the energy flowing.

  • Two TS415s: These speakers deliver powerful and immersive sound for both the dinner ambiance and, of course, the dance floor!

  • Soundcraft UI16 Mixer: This is the control center, allowing me to precisely mix and master every audio element, from background music to speeches.

  • Sennheiser EWD Microphones: I always come prepared with two high-quality wireless microphones – one for me as the MC, and another readily available for toasts and guest participation. They're interchangeable for maximum flexibility.

  • Backup Systems: Because professionalism means preparing for anything, I always have a backup laptop and mixer ready to go. Peace of mind for everyone!

From Soundcheck to Slow Dance: The Journey of a DJ

The day started with a thorough soundcheck at the ceremony location, making sure every word and musical cue would be crystal clear against the gentle ocean breeze. Once inside, after getting the reception setup dialed in, it was time to shift gears for dinner. I set the mood with acoustic-style dinner vibes, featuring mellow covers and elegant piano pieces – creating that perfect backdrop for conversations and dining.

As the evening progressed, the transition to dancing was smooth. There’s nothing quite like kicking off the dance portion with a classic slow dance, setting a romantic tone for all the couples. Then, it's all about bringing that energy up and getting everyone out there to create some unforgettable memories on the dance floor!

Every wedding is a unique journey, and I'm always thrilled to be the one behind the music, helping couples and their guests celebrate in style.
